The ‘heroic’ 2021 harvest: a vintage year

Expectations are high for Follador and Conegliano Valdobbiadene

As in previous years, with the onset of autumn the time has come to take stock of the grape harvest: it is a crucial time for all wine producers, as the results enable us to make a fairly safe forecast of the characteristics of the wines we will obtain.

Our oenologists are pleased to report that the 2021 harvest has produced some top-quality grapes, on a par with our best vintages in the past. Although quantities were lower than in previous years, and despite some uncertainty in spring due to the weather, conditions in Conegliano Valdobbiadene remained mild and the summer was clement, with no heat waves or excessively heavy rainfall. As a result, the grapes were healthy, disease-free and had not been ‘burnt’ by the sun or suffered dehydration.

In particular, the low temperatures at night and the great variation in temperatures in August had a positive effect on the concentration of the aromas; the pH of the grapes is ideal, as is the balance between sugar content and acidity, well within the parameters of an all-round outstanding Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G..

The exclusive Gianfranco Follador Method® used to produce our wines enhances the properties of the grapes and delivers a Prosecco that meets the high standards connoisseurs have come to expect from our brand, standards which have been endorsed by the numerous awards we have obtained both in Italy and worldwide. All good reasons to be optimistic about the future and proud to be part of this great tradition of excellence.

Quality you recognize.
